The platypus has webbed feet and although lays eggs is a mammal. It has a duck like bill and a beaver tail.It can swim very well and the males have a poison spur on its leg. There have no recorded deaths by the platypus.
Because the platypus is an egg laying mammal it is called a monotremes. The platypus lives in the water and on land. The platypus only lives in Australia. Although They are usually in the water they some they waddle beside the river and dig burrows. The burrows keep them safe and it eats small bugs and insects.
Sadly you are not legally allowed to keep a platypus as a pet. Even though it is so cute. The platypus is one of two egg laying mammals in the world.It can only be found in Queensland Australia. Did you know that scientists don't have a word to describe the platypus as plural.
